Secondly, the size of the residual voltage is proportional to the starting voltage of the lightning arrester, the higher the starting voltage, the higher the residual voltage, and vice versa, in general, the ratio of starting voltage and residual voltage is closer to 1, the better its comprehensive performance.

3. Protection mode

The SPD prevents the device from being damaged by the overvoltage on the line. There are two types of line overvoltage: ———— Longitudinal overvoltage and transverse overvoltage. Longitudinal overvoltage refers to the overvoltage of the phase wire to the ground wire (L-PE) and the phase wire to the middle wire (N-PE), and transverse overvoltage refers to the overvoltage of the phase wire to the middle wire (L-N).

In this way, for the longitudinal overvoltage protection, we call longitudinal protection, for the horizontal overvoltage protection, we call horizontal protection, at the same time with two protection modes, it is called full protection, modular lightning protection each way protection is a separate lightning protection module, such as the single-phase power supply system shown in the figure above. The modular surge arrester needs 2 surge protection modules to achieve longitudinal protection, and 3 modules to achieve full protection, and the cost increases by 50%.
